The NS (Name Server) records of a domain name reveal which DNS servers are authoritative for its zone. Essentially, the zone is the selection of all records for the domain, so when you open a URL within an Internet browser, your PC asks the DNS servers world-wide where the domain address is hosted and from which servers the DNS records for the domain name should be retrieved. In this way a web browser finds out what the A or AAAA record of the domain address is so that the latter is mapped to an IP address and the website content is requested from the correct location, a mail relay server finds out which server handles the emails for the domain name (MX record) to ensure a message can be sent to the right mailbox, and so on. Any change of these sub-records is done using the company whose name servers are used, so you can keep the website hosting and change only your email provider for example. Every single Internet domain has at least two NS records - primary and secondary, that start with a prefix like NS or DNS.
NS Records in Cloud Hosting
When you use a Linux cloud hosting plan from our us and you include a new domain name in the account or transfer an existing one from a different provider, you will be able to manage its NS records easily through the Hepsia website hosting CP, provided with all shared accounts. You are able to change the current name servers or enter additional ones for a single domain name or even for many domain addresses at a time with several mouse clicks. This is done via the feature-rich Domain Manager tool that is a part of Hepsia and the user-friendly interface will make it easy to handle your domain address even if it's the first one you've ever registered. It requires only a click to see what name servers a domain uses at the moment or if they're the correct ones to point a domain to the hosting space on our end and with only a few clicks more you'll even be able to register private name servers for each of the domain names that you own. For the latter option you can use the IPs of each company that you would like the new NS records to forward to.
NS Records in Semi-dedicated Servers
The name servers for each domain address that is registered through our company could be changed with no more than a few clicks through the leading-edge, although easy-to-use Hepsia Control Panel included with all semi-dedicated server plans. It is just as simple to see the current NS records for a specific domain address and to check if they are the ones that are required for the domain name to be directed to your hosting account. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, is user-friendly enough to allow you to handle any domain address easily even if you have never dealt with such matters before. If you'd like, you may also register private name servers ns1.your-domain.com and ns2.your-domain.com and use them not only for the domain address under which they're created, but also for any other domain that you'd like to host in the same account. This feature is very beneficial when you have customers of your own and you wish their websites to use your own name servers in lieu of our default ones. The service is totally free.
