SSH Telnet
What precisely is SSH? How will you handle a server via SSH?
Secure Shell, better known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol employed to execute commands on a remote server or to exchange information between a server and a client. Given that the information exchanged by the 2 sides is encoded, a 3rd party can't intercept it, which makes SSH a favorite means of handling a website hosting account. The commands which may be executed depend on the type of hosting service. On a shared web server, in particular, the possibilities are limited as you shall not have root access to the website hosting server, so you may simply create/move/delete files, set up and unpack archives, import and export databases, etcetera. They're all actions which are executed within the shared hosting account and don't need a higher level of access. Through a virtual or a dedicated server, you'll be able to set up server-side software or to restart the hosting server or just a certain service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted via a command line, and if you don't employ a UNIX-like Operating System, there are a lot of applications for other OSs, you can use to connect to the remote hosting server as well.

SSH Telnet in Cloud Hosting
If the
cloud hosting plan that you’ve selected throughout the signup process includes SSH access as standard, you will be able to activate this feature with a mouse click in your Hepsia CP. If you've picked a different package, the SSH access feature may be included using the Upgrades menu and it will become available right away. All the info that you need to connect will be conveniently listed within the SSH section of the Control Panel - the hostname, the username and the port number. You could also set what password to use from the same location and you will be able to change it at any time. All of the commands which are permitted are listed in the Help articles that we have prepared for you, together with examples of the syntax that you should use. An additional advantage of permitting SSH access to your account is that you shall be able to upload files through an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you have a
semi-dedicated server account with us, you will be able to receive SSH access to it with just a mouse click from the corresponding section of the Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with all accounts. If your plan does not support this feature by default, you'll be able to include it without difficulty via the Upgrades menu. As soon as you go to the SSH section, you shall find the information which you need to connect to the server through a command line or a desktop app - the server/host, the port number, the username and the password. The latter could be updated at any time, if required. These login credentials are also required if you would like to upload files via a secure connection and you want to use SFTP, which is also part of the SSH access service that we provide. An extensive list of the commands that you can perform will offer you a better idea of what tasks you may perform in your account and each one is accompanied by a few examples of the syntax.

SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
The
VPS server offers which we offer provide SSH access by default, not as an optional upgrade or a function that you need to activate. The minute your new server is ready, you shall be able to connect and begin working on your content via the login details which you have entered throughout the order procedure. A copy of the SSH credentials will be sent to you via e-mail as well. Since your VPS will be isolated from the others on the physical server, there aren't any limitations regarding what you can or can't do using SSH. You may download, set up and manage any piece of software that'll run on a Linux hosting server, reboot the whole server or simply a specific software component, and work with files, folders and databases without restrictions. All you'll require for this is a console or an SSH client on your end.
